Public Discussions

Terms of participation for our sessions

By joining and participating in PathForge online discussions, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

1. Recording and Publication

  • The sessions may be recorded (video and audio).
  • The full recordings or selected segments may be published on public platforms (e.g. YouTube, podcast feeds, social media).
  • Short clips may be used for promotional or educational purposes.
  • If you wish to speak, you must have your camera turned on.
  • By speaking, you consent to the recording and possible publication of your voice, video, and name (if visible).
  • Your contributions may be used for documentation, educational, and promotional purposes.

2. Consent and GDPR Notice

  • By remaining in the call and actively participating (speaking with your camera and/or microphone on), you give explicit consent under GDPR to the recording and use of your contributions.
  • If you do not agree, you may either leave the session and watch a live stream of it instead.
  • If you join after the session has started, it is your responsibility to review and agree to these terms. The host will periodically remind participants of these rules verbally and via the chat.
  • Once a session is recorded and published, requests to remove or edit specific contributions may not be accommodated, except in cases of:
    • Legal risk
    • Clear misrepresentation
    • At the host’s discretion

3. Conduct and Participation Guidelines

This group values open dialogue, honest disagreement, and thoughtful engagement. To create a respectful and intellectually productive environment, we ask all participants to observe the following:

Respectful Disagreement:

  • Disagreement is welcome—personal attacks are not.
  • Challenge ideas, not people. Focus your critique on arguments, not individuals.

Constructive Language:

  • Avoid inflammatory or dismissive language.
  • Sarcasm, ridicule, and aggression (verbal or nonverbal) are not appropriate.
  • Use “I” statements where possible to own your perspective (e.g., “I felt…” rather than “You always…”).

Inclusivity and Empathy:

  • Be mindful that others may have very different experiences, backgrounds, or emotional reactions to the material.
  • Listen actively and without interruption.
  • Do not dominate the discussion; leave space for others to contribute.

Stay on Topic:

  • Keep your contributions focused on the assigned texts and topic of the session.
  • Avoid derailing the conversation into unrelated areas or personal grievances.

No Hate Speech or Discrimination:

  • Any form of hate speech, harassment, or discriminatory comments based on gender, race, sexuality, religion, or other identities will result in immediate removal from the session.

4. Contact and Questions

If you have concerns about the terms above, wish to clarify anything, or want to raise an issue, please contact us before the session or via direct message during the session.
