3 March – Men, Fathers, and Global Crises

Masculinities are closely entangled with global crises, such as the ecological crisis, the crisis of social reproduction or the crisis of liberal democracies in authoritarian times. Through practices, discourses or by being efficacious within institutions, they co-condition the lives of women, LGBTIQ+-persons, and other men across the globe.

At this meeting, we will read two short texts from the special issue of the Journal für Entwicklungspolitik (2025, 41:3-4), titled: Entangled Masculinities – Masculinities in the Context of Global Crises.

We encourage you to look at the other texts from the special issue, devoted to how masculinities are entangled with ecology, religion, nationalism, and other aspects of life. Accessing them will require payment or subscription, and we sincerely discourage anyone and everyone from trying to find them on platforms such as Anna’s Archive or request them via Sci-Net or Nexus/STC, which illegally fight for free access to science.
